About the Krakow map

a medieval core wrapped in a green ring

Krakow's old town is one of urban Europe's most perfect shapes: an almost circular medieval core wrapped in the Planty — a green ring where the walls used to stand — with Wawel Castle guarding the bend of the Vistula just below.

Around that jewel the map spreads outward through Kazimierz's tight Jewish quarter and the grand oval of Błonia meadow. Few cities of this size offer so much composition in a 4-kilometre radius.

Copper Patina: the signature choice: oxidised greens like Krakow's church spires.

Centre on the Main Market Square with a 4 km radius: the Planty ring, Wawel, Kazimierz and Błonia all fit, and the Vistula curls along the bottom of the frame. Krakow is a city that rewards smaller radii.
